Research Professorships

Royal Society Research Professorships provide 10-15 years support for internationally recognised scientists of outstanding achievement and promise. Applications are particularly welcomed from scientists currently resident outside the UK and who wish to return. Research professors are appointed for five years in the first instance, and may apply to renew the appointment for further five-year periods as appropriate. Research professor's salary costs of £72,000 per year, which can be supplemented at the discretion of the host organisation; a one-off start up grant of up to £35,000 and up to £16,000 research expenses per academic year.
