Further to last week's revelation about THES reporter Alison Utley's status among Salford's best-known alumni comes news of the academic affiliations of her near-namesake Alison Uttley, author of the Little Grey Rabbit and other works unlikely to be filmed by Quentin Tarantino. Sources close to Manchester University confide that not only was she their second ever female graduate in physics (third-class honours, 1906) but that more than half a century later she was awarded an honorary degree to go with her real one.
