QAA moots student report cards

The QAA published a consultation paper this week, building on the Dearing recommendation that universities develop a universal student "progress file". The files would "form an important element of the new public policy framework being created to help make the outcomes of learning in higher education more explicit".

The files are being developed alongside universal subject benchmark standards and "programme specifications" that will spell out what is expected of students. A qualifications framework is also being developed to clarify the attainment level of HE awards.
