Pharmaceuticals giant Pfizer has pledged to pay £500,000 for an academic to head the new Medway School of Pharmacy.

The school is part of a collaboration between the universities of Kent and Greenwich, which are establishing a shared campus at Medway located on and around the existing Greenwich University Chatham Maritime campus.

Student numbers are expected to rise to 6,000 by 2010. The head of pharmacy appointment will be made next year.
