Canterbury Christ Church University has appointed Richard Cullen , formerly with the department of language studies, as head of its new department of English and language studies.

Helen Wildman has joined the Open University as regional director for the East of England, based in Cambridge. She was previously director of strategic planning at De Montfort University, which she joined in November 2005 after a career in the Army.

The Financial Services Skills Council has appointed Dilly Tawakkul to the new post of higher and continuing education manager.

The Hull York Medical School has appointed Charles Lacey , former honorary reader in sexual health and HIV medicine, as professor in genitourinary medicine. Simon Gilbody , formerly senior lecturer at Leeds University, has been awarded a personal chair in psychological medicine and health services.
