King's College, London has appointed Arnie Purushotham , former professor of breast cancer at King's, as director of the integrated cancer centre. Jennifer Garner becomes King's head of alumni relations.

Raymond Plant , professor of jurisprudence and head of the school of law at King's College, London, takes the Vincent Wright chair in law and philosophy at Sciences Po in Paris from January to July 2008.

David Hesmondhalgh , former chair of the media studies course at the Open University, has been appointed professor of media and music industries in the institute of communication studies at Leeds University.

Winchester University names Neil Marriott , professor and former associate dean of the faculty of business at Glamorgan University, as head of the newly established business school.

James Crabbe has been appointed vice-chair of the East of England Engineering, Science and Technology Association (EEESTA). Professor Crabbe is dean of Bedfordshire University's faculty of creative arts, technologies and science.
