The correspondence of pioneering explorer and naturalist Sir Joseph Banks is to be housed in an archive at Nottingham Trent University. It includes personal accounts of Banks' expedition with Captain James Cook to the uncharted lands of the South Pacific from 1768-71, as well as correspondence with William Bligh concerning HMS Bounty's mission before it ended in mutiny. The archive will be based in the School of Arts and Humanities and will be used for research. It will also be open to the public from next month.
