Northern exposure

Manchester University has become such a popular location for shooting scenes for TV productions that its events directors are beginning to describe it as "the Hollywood of the North". It seems the city's often-dismal weather and the slightly gothic atmosphere of some older buildings could be the attraction. Programmes with names such as Cold Blood and Blue Murder feature prominently on the filming roster.
