An academic at Manchester Metropolitan University has criticised government figures for young people classified as "not in employment, education or training" (NEET), claiming that they are misleading. Helen Colley, senior research fellow at MMU's Education and Social Research Institute, said the figures did not recognise that many young people are full-time carers or disabled.
