Strathclyde may be bidding to be Europe's first "Thinkpad University", but it is not the first European university to "lap up" students (Enterprise, THES, September 8).

Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands has been welcoming first-year students with a laptop for about five years. You do not have to go to the US to see good ideas in practice.
