MIT learning materials to be free on web

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has announced that it is placing virtually all its course content online.

Lecture notes, reading lists, assignments and course outlines will all be available free. 500 of MIT’s 2,000 courses will be online within two years, with the rest to follow over the coming decade.
