Marconi man to take over at Cardiff

(Photograph) - David Grant, director of technology for Marconi, one of the world's leading communications and information technology companies, is to be the next vice-chancellor of Cardiff University, succeeding Sir Brian Smith in October 2001.

Mr Grant (above) was chair for several years of the manufacturing, production and business processes panel of the government's Foresight programme and has been at the forefront of Marconi's Pounds 40 million communications research centre at Cambridge University.
