Licensed to heal

Manchester University's Wolfson Molecular Imaging Centre has been awarded a licence to produce its own radioactive tracers, enabling it to proceed with research into cancer, neurological and psychiatric treatments.

The licence, granted by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority, allows the centre to administer tracers to human participants in clinical trials to produce high-resolution images of internal organs and biological processes at work.
