Lectures with a laugh

Congratulations Peter Kerr, politics lecturer at the University of Birmingham, who won the late-night ITV comedy talent show Take the Mike last weekend. Dr Kerr told The Diary : "I teach at nine in the morning, most of my students tend to be sleepy and hungover so I try to be funny and entertaining. Last year, I went to the Edinburgh Festival fringe and I got quite a good review. I just treat it as a hobby - it is just about fun, really."
