V-cs back Welsh bid to re-introduce grants
Welsh vice-chancellors are backing proposals for the Welsh Assembly to seek legislative powers to introduce maintenance grants and bursaries for students.

Lib Dems to consider graduate taxation
Graduate taxation and corporate endowment will be considered as part of a review of university funding announced by the Liberal Democrats in Bournemouth. It is likely that the review, which is still to be approved by the party’s policy committee, will be led by Lib Dem peer and academic Margaret Sharp.

The Goethe Institute has been saved from closure thanks to an agreement with Manchester University under which it will deliver its German language courses in the city.
