Canada opens up academic jobs market
The Canadian federal government has announced that universities will now be allowed to advertise all vacancies simultaneously in Canada and abroad. Qualified Canadian citizens will still be offered employment before foreign candidates.

One step nearer pill for possums
Researchers from the University of Newcastle in New South Wales have found a way to incubate marsupial sperm outside the animal. It is hoped this breakthrough will speed the search for a marsupial contraceptive to combat a plague of non-native possums in New Zealand.
