China aims for 16 million students
China is to increase the number of university students to 16 million over the next five years, up from 11 million in 2000, the People’s Daily reports.

Racial preference ban expected to hit enrolment
Black student enrolment at the University of Florida is expected to be down by nearly half this year because of state governor Jeb Bush's ban on racial preference in public university admissions. Blacks made up nearly 12 per cent of freshmen last year. This month’s class will be 6 to 7 per cent black, university officials said.
