King's College London - Translating research into health

The Princess Royal has officially opened a new clinical research facility at St Thomas' Hospital. Researchers at King's College London and clinical staff at the hospital will undertake multi-disciplinary research focusing on nutrition, obesity and cardiovascular health at the new centre. Frank Nestle, King's director of the clinical research facility, said: "Through what is known as translational research, we seek to use improved scientific knowledge and understanding to develop new ways to treat common conditions and to ensure medical breakthroughs benefit patients and help to improve the health of the local population as rapidly as possible."
