Brussels, 16 April 2002

The 10th annual 'High-technology small firms' (HTSF) conference will take place at the University of Twente, the Netherlands, on 10 and 11 June 2002.

The event, organised by the University of Twente and Manchester Business School, the UK, will focus on the management and development of HTSFs and their role in industrial and economic and development. It will gather academics, policymakers and practitioners to discuss recent developments in the field.

Areas to be examined will include cooperation and innovation, e-business, the diffusion and implementation of innovation, practical experience and policy and innovation systems.

In addition, the University of Twente's business and technology centre, BTC-Twente, will hold a symposium to celebrate its 20th anniversary on 1 June this year. The incubator, situated on the doorstep of the University of Twente, was set up in 1982 to support innovative enterprises. To date, 333 tenants have created around 1,700 new jobs during their stay at BTC.
