Description The Deep Learning laboratory in the Division of Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research assistant to work on Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL). The successful applicants will lead the labs efforts in action-less design, continual learning, planning with world models, and contrastive RL. Our laboratory has expertise in deep learning, including deep reinforcement learning, large language models, and the theory of deep learning. The candidate will develop DRL algorithms for online and off-line tasks, for robotic applications and possibly for LLM reasoning applications in the future. The work will involve designing algorithms, running experiments on the HPC, analyzing the results and improving the algorithms. It will also involve extensive literature reviews. Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in computer science, have significant experience with deep learning with PyTorch, and have expertise in reinforcement learning. The applicant should have already completed several major projects in DRL. The applicant should also possess excellent mathematical and English skills. The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. It is expected that the Research Assistant/Fellow will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop. This role focuses on advancing research in two-dimensional materials and ultra-thin material systems, with an emphasis on synthesis, heterostructure integration, and device development for electronic, photonic, and sensing applications. The position involves designing, fabricating, and experimentally validating novel material architectures using advanced nanofabrication and characterization techniques, translating fundamental research into functional prototypes. The successful candidate will produce high-quality research outputs, contribute to competitive funding applications, and effectively communicate findings through publications, reports, and presentations. The role also includes mentoring students, supporting collaborative research initiatives, and engaging with stakeholders. Strong initiative and technical leadership are essential, including the ability to plan and execute research activities, troubleshoot experimental challenges, and maintain laboratory capabilities while ensuring timely delivery of project milestones. About EPrints Services As a result of our continued success, we are hiring into a Software Engineering / Customer Support role. We primarily develop and maintain Web-based repository services for a wide variety of both education and commercial organisations all over the World. At our core is an open source repository platform, EPrints, which provides a flexible way to configure operations concerning data capture, structure and presentation, and a range of services that allow content to be accessed in a variety of ways. We support our many customers by maintaining our own Linux based virtual hosting infrastructure. We are a well established small Enterprise team based in the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. About You As part of the team, you will take responsibility for the development and support of customer focused projects, for both EPrints systems and more varied engineering activities. These typically relate to open access, open data, digital education, content management and systems integrations. All projects require some level of design, programming, testing, project management, and customer support. It is essential you have: Proven industrial experience and / or  PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Computer Science or related discipline. In addition, some knowledge of Linux as well as Web relevant technologies, for example XML, SQL, JavaScript and CSS is required. Experience in high level programming languages such as Python, PHP or Perl will be highly desirable. This role is offered at either Level 4 or Level 5 (Senior) depending on your experience.
