* They say the course of true love never runs smooth, and this has been borne out by the first weddings hosted by Manchester University's newly licensed hospitality and conference centre.

Bride number one left her luggage in the bridal car, including details of where the limousine had been rented from.

Just weeks later the registrar turned up without the order of ceremony. A book was found that resembled the real thing, while the registrar's office faxed over the relevant pages.
