LLD: Keith Oates, patron of the university's Campaign for Resource, managing director and deputy chairman of Marks & Spencer plc.

MA: Elizabeth Ingham, former organiser of the University Wives International Group; Kenneth Stradling, managing director of Bristol Guild and local conservationist.

University of Stirling

DUniv: George Albee, professor, for his contribution to community psychology; Donald Harris, professor, for his contribution to British food retailing.

MA: Ian MacRae, for his services to the university in aquaculture.
