Marie-Pierre Gauthier
, was awarded first place in a competition to create the office of the future for business advisers Andersen and Andersen Legal; Katherine Smith was runner up and a prize of £1,000 was awarded to UCE interior design department.

Southampton Institute

The following have been awarded the title of professor:
Gin Chong , member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and Association of Certified Accountants; Patricia Park , an original member of the Regional Environmental Pollution Advisory Committee to the Environment Agency and member of the Institute of Petroleum.

City University, London

Lectureships :

Jamshid Nouri (formerly at Imperial College, London) experimental fluid mechanics;

Sandra Godoy (formerly at Imperial College, London) environmental engineering;

Manolis Gavises (formerly at Imperial College, London) computational fluid dynamics;

Ton Sun (Lucas Aerospace) air transport engineering;

Anton Fox , former research assistant, lecturer in mathematics;

Reidun Twarock (formerly at the University of York) mathematics;

Ana Maria Fuertes (formerly at London Guildhall University) financial econometrics.

Senior lectureships :

Steven Bond (formerly at Imperial College, London) air transport engineering;

Maria Poirier (Bolton Institute of Higher Education), senior lecturer in psychology from September.

Promotions :

Michael Tamvakis (course director) promoted to senior lecturer in commodity, trade and finance;

Manolis Kavussanos (course director of MSc in Trade, Transport and Finance) has been promoted from senior lecturer to reader.
