Have no fear

May 20, 2010

A practice suite of medical laboratories is giving Bournemouth University students the opportunity to develop their clinical skills in a "no-fear" zone. About £500,000 has been invested in the suite, which includes a midwifery ward, an operating practice room, two physiotherapy rooms, a counselling room, four nursing wards and three occupational therapy rooms, each designed to match its real-world counterparts. Gail Thomas, dean of the School of Health and Social Care, said: "The core benefit of these facilities is the provision of a 'no-fear' setting for students to feel safe and comfortable during the practical elements of their education. This enables them to practise their core skills in a highly realistic training situation."
