Michael Dutton thought it must be a hoax when he heard that he had won one of the most coveted prizes in China studies. The professor of politics at Goldsmiths, University of London, is one of two winners of the 2007 Joseph Levenson Prize. The award is in recognition of his book Policing Chinese Politics: A History.
