Goldsmiths, University of London - Artful ideas invade government

In a break with traditional ministerial art displays, a giant tattoo-shaped rug reading "mum" is on show at the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills in central London. It is one of a series of artworks by students from Goldsmiths, University of London, which will be displayed until the end of the month. Ruth Thompson, the department's director-general for higher education, was inspired by a recent visit to Goldsmiths, whose alumni include Damien Hirst.
