Neil Anderson , professor of psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London, has been elected a fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology , a division of the American Psychological Society.

Sir Michael Rutter , emeritus professor of child psychiatry at the University of London, has become an honorary professor at the University of Amsterdam .

Sir John Sulston , former director of the Wellcome Trust Sanger Centre in Cambridge, has been awarded the Prince of Austria's Award for Scientific and Technical Research .

Queen Mary College, University of London , has announced that it will award honorary degrees to: Gillian Beer , literary critic; Augusto Boal , director and playwright; and George Ellis , professor of complex systems at the University of Cape Town. Queen Mary College will make honorary fellows of John Profumo , former politician and president of Toynbee Hall; Patrick Bateson , biological secretary of the Royal Society; Robert Cohen , emeritus professor of medicine at Barts and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry; Piers Gough , architect; John Sentamu , bishop of Stepney; Alan Thomas , visiting professor at Queen Mary; and John Travers Clarke , businessman.

Graham Zellick , vice-chancellor of the University of London, has received an honorary degree from New York University .
