Funds for Social Scientists

Deadline: 31/12/2000

October 19, 2000

The British Library of Political and Economic Science (LSE, London) and The Library of the European University Institute (EUI, Florence) are the two centres of an initiative, funded by the European Commission, in support of research in the social sciences. This initiative is called EUSSIRF, European Union Social Sciences Information Research Facility. For European social scientists, currently working in an EU member or associated state (30 countries are eligible), EUSSIRF can offer the opportunity to gain access to the collections, resources and services of the constituent libraries.

Short-term research visits to either centre, usually lasting one month, will benefit from: a financial contribution toward travel and living expenses; expert assistance in exploiting collections and resources; training in new research technologies; and the opportunity to integrate into the academic life of the facility. For further information about eligibility, assistance and deadlines, email the EUSSIRF office in London ( g.camfield@lse.ac.uk ) or in Florence ( eussirf@datacomm.iue.it ). Florence deadline: December 31. London deadline awaiting confirmation, but likely to be January-February 2001; consult: " title="http:///www.blpes.lse.ac.uk/services/eussirf/default.html#Deadlines">" target="_blank">http:///www.blpes.lse.ac.uk/services/eussirf/default.html... www.blpes.lse.ac.uk/services/eussirf/default.html#Deadlines .
