Edinburgh's former domestic science school has just given a platform to the thinking man's crumpet: Joan Bakewell. Queen Margaret University College invited the broadcaster and writer to give the first annual lecture at its Centre for the Older Person's Agenda. The 73-year-old, who is glamour and elegance personified, attributed her health and wellbeing to Pilates. She also revealed that she had learnt a new skill specially for the lecture: PowerPoint.
