DEFRA wishes to commission a number of research projects to develop a model framework that incorporates variability and uncertainty into the assessment of risk to non-target species. A key research requirement is also to define the wider acceptability of pesticide related effects at the individual, community and population level and to ensure that both acute (short term) and chronic (long-term) non-target effects are addressed. Proposals are invited in the following areas; development of a model framework for the assessment of non-target risks; development of key modules addressing specific non-target groups; acceptability of effects on non-target species.
