A nettle-fibre dress created by a fusion of fashion design and research from De Montfort University was worn on air last week by BBC TV presenter Kylie Pentelow. The dress was created by Jen Jarvis, a De Montfort University fashion-design graduate, using yarn from nettle fibres grown in Leicestershire as part of the university's Sustainable Technology in Nettle Growing project. The dress will be showcased in London at the launch of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' Sustainable Clothing Action Plan on 20 February at the Royal Geographical Society.
