De Montfort University researchers have won Pounds 3 million from industry, research councils, the European Union and the Department for International Development.
Among the awards is Pounds 186,000 for its technology centre to develop incinerators for Third World hospitals. The mechatronics research group has secured Pounds 430,000 from the EU and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council for integrated design simulation and distributed control of modular manufacturing machinery. The EPSRC has awarded over Pounds 1 million to the faculty of applied science for the examination of materials using X-rays at the Synchrotron Radiation at Daresbury.
