Oxford Brookes University vice-chancellor Graham Upton raised a few eyebrows when he took off on a bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats last week, the day before the latest pay talks. But it is all for very good reasons. Professor Upton has embarked on the two-week journey to raise £100,000 to support postgraduate scholarships at the university.
