Trainee police officers from the Cleveland Constabulary are to be among the first recruits in the UK to study for a foundation degree in police studies. The two-year course, which is run by Teesside University, provides practical on-the-beat training alongside academic study of the law, criminology and forensics. About 80 of the force's aspiring police officers will enrol on the course in each of the next five years.
