Students from Bournemouth University are getting in shape for a month-long trip to Africa to coach underprivileged children. Twenty students have been recruited from the universities of Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Southampton and Surrey to take part in the Camp Kenya Sports Development Expedition. As well as teaching sporting skills to students in the Kwale region of East Kenya, the group will also organise an inter-school sports festival and a district fun run. It will also take donated recycled football boots to give to Kenyan schoolchildren. Barry Squires, Bournemouth's head of sports development, said that although there was an initial communication barrier for English students, "using sport for development is providing a unique student experience".
