Birmingham City University - Doubling up on doctorates

A university is aiming to double the number of its doctoral students and deliver an investment plan worth £10 million. Birmingham City University wants to fund more than 30 PhD studentships over the next three years and further increase numbers beyond that period. Keith Osman, the university's director of research, said: "To support the new research strategy, we plan to invest more than £10 million in the next three years in existing and new centres of research excellence. Over the next five years we will double the number of research-active staff and research students."
