More specifically, the Associate Professor is responsible for providing original, innovative, and distinguished contributions to the School’s programs, particularly in the disciplines of computer science, information technology, software engineering and artificial intelligence, and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research, and/or professional capabilities relevant to those disciplines at a national and international level. The Associate Professor can be expected to provide strategic leadership in learning and teaching or research and scholarship, teach, and make a significant contribution to teaching and learning in the disciplines to improve student learning outcomes. The Associate Professor will significantly contribute to the School's planning and strategic direction, by taking on academic leadership roles involving participation in various committees within the School, Program Portfolio, and University and external to the University, as appropriate. This position will provide leadership and support for partnerships and engagement activities ensuring they are appropriately and successfully coordinated, implemented, and continuously improved. These activities will involve industry partners, Government agencies, and University stakeholders. KEY ACCOUNTIBILITIES Teaching delivery and student experience: Undertake independent teaching at undergraduate, honours, postgraduate, and corporate training levels. Design, deliver and continuously improve learning activities that enhance student engagement, wellbeing, and employability, informed by student feedback and course/program evaluation. Assessment design, moderation and academic standards: Design, conduct and moderate assessment in line with University policy and quality assurance requirements. Ensure assessment integrity, consistency of standards, and appropriate documentation, including moderation processes and continuous improvement actions. Program and curriculum leadership: Lead the advancement of teaching within the disciplines, including developing new courses/programs, initiating program improvements, strengthening academic standards, and supporting accreditation and regulatory compliance. Research leadership, impact and collaboration: Conduct impactful research and drive national and international contributions to the discipline. Build and lead interdisciplinary research teams; lead publication strategies and high-quality research outputs; develop and sustain collaborations with RMIT Melbourne and external partners; and support translation of research outcomes into practice, policy, industry or community impact. Research funding: Identify, attract and secure external research funding to support sustained research growth. HDR supervision and researcher development: Supervise and mentor HDR candidates and contribute to researcher development, including mentoring early career researchers and building capability within the discipline/research group. Governance, service and external engagement: Contribute significantly to internal and external university governance and collegial life, including participation in committees, Industry Advisor Committee, academic leadership roles, recruitment/outreach activities, and engagement with relevant professional bodies and partners. Faculty of Educational Sciences invites applications for the position of ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR OF ADULT EDUCATION The appointee may be appointed to a fixed-term tenure-track assistant or associate professorship or permanent full professorship, depending on their qualifications and career stage. Job overview The position focuses on transformations of adult education. We are looking for candidates whose expertise strengthens research on adult education by providing novel theoretical and methodological approaches. An appointee is required to show experience in research on two of the following areas: New forms of professional development or expertise Adult education policies and practices in national and global contexts Workplace learning and transformations in working life. The appointee is expected to build and lead active interaction with cooperative networks with decision-makers in private, public and/or third sector, and representatives of other stakeholders, and advance societal impact of research. The position is located in the General and Adult Education discipline. Successful performance requires collaboration with domestic and international actors and experts in adult education, and active participation in obtaining external research funding. The position includes Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral level teaching and supervision in the areas mentioned above. The role includes administrative duties, and the appointee expected to contribute to public engagement. The broadly oriented professorship in adult education strengthens the discipline as a whole and supports the renewal of its international, national and broader societal significance. Qualification requirements and appointment criteria Associate and assistant professors within the tenure track system must hold an applicable doctoral degree and be capable of conducting independent scholarly work, alongside the requisite teaching skills. Research relevant to the professorship’s field is considered an asset. In addition, the appointee must be capable and willing to promote their academic career through publications and other means, and develop teaching, learning and research in the field. The assessment of applicant qualifications considers not only research and teaching merits, but also success in securing external research funding and experience in domestic and international research projects. Full professors must hold an applicable doctoral degree and possess advanced academic qualifications, experience in leading scholarly research, the requisite teaching skills and evidence of success in securing external research funding and international collaboration in their research field. Applicants must be able to deliver teaching based on top-level research and supervise theses. The position also requires academic leadership skills. The assessment of applicant qualifications considers both scholarly and teaching-related qualifications. Scholarly qualifications encompass relevant publications and other academically valuable research results, success in securing external research funding, international research experience, as well as academic responsibilities and elected positions, and international relations. Teaching qualifications encompass teaching experience and pedagogical training, the ability to produce learning material, other teaching merits and, if necessary, a demonstration of teaching skills and participation in training doctoral researchers. About the Role The Professor of Genomics is a senior academic leadership position responsible for driving internationally competitive research and shaping the strategic direction of genomics within the College of Medicine and Public Health. The role leads high-impact research programs that advance health, biomedical and population research outcomes, while strengthening the University’s global reputation. Working collaboratively with academic, industry and government partners, the position plays a key role in securing major research funding, building multidisciplinary capability, and developing the next generation of researchers. About You You are an internationally recognised genomics researcher and academic leader with a distinguished track record of delivering high-impact research and securing substantial competitive funding. Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will be required to: take up substantial teaching responsibilities for courses related to Chinese language education in the Cantonese Steam; develop course curriculum, teaching and assessment materials; carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration; and support and perform other duties as assigned. Requirements The appointee should possess: a University degree and Master’s degree or equivalent in Chinese language and literature, teaching Chinese as a second language, linguistics, or another relevant field; relevant teaching experience (normally 3 years’ post-qualification experience at tertiary level); the ability to design and deliver new courses as well as to employ second language pedagogy.
