A school of law has launched a writer-in-residence programme, offering a placement to scholars who have achieved distinction in the field of critical theory. The scheme at Birkbeck, University of London, is aimed at helping academics in the field to develop a major scholarly work. The first incumbent will be Timothy Campbell, associate professor of Italian in the department of Romance studies at Cornell University in the US. He will be based at Birkbeck from 31 May to 13 June, and will conduct a series of workshops, seminars and masterclasses with graduate students and faculty.
