Dave Berger, senior counsellor at the University of Hull, has been elected to serve as chair elect for 2003-04 (following on as chair for two years from 2004-06) of the Association for University and College Counselling.

David Getty, lecturer in social policy at the School of Policy Studies at the University of Ulster, has been elected chair of the Irish Social Policy Association.

Kate Hughes, director of research support services at the University of Warwick, has been elected chair of the Association of University and Industry Links.

Kai Peters, dean of the Rotterdam School of Management of Erasmus University, has been appointed chief executive officer of Ashridge.

Chris Secombes, professor and specialist in fish immunology at the University of Aberdeen, has been elected president of the International Society of Developmental and Comparative Immunology.

Kevin Edge, professor and head of the department of mechanical engineering at the University of Bath, has been appointed pro vice-chancellor (research). He is also a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Billy Rea, lecturer in the School of Applied Medical Sciences and Sports Studies at the University of Ulster, is the new head of the Society and College of Radiographers.

Alan Weale, former head of health studies at Coventry University, has been appointed head of the Institute of Health and Social Care at University College Worcester.
