The supermarket chain Waitrose is to further research into global food security by funding an academic chair in the discipline. In a partnership with Aberystwyth University, the retail giant will fund the chair in sustainable agriculture, based within the university's Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences. The first incumbent will be Gareth Edwards-Jones, professor of agriculture and land-use studies at Bangor University, who will take up the post in September.
