Meanwhile, Lawrence Lessig, a law professor from Stanford University, flew in last week to give us Brits a lesson in innovation.

Speaking at the Royal Geographical Society last week, Professor Lessig warned that innovation and experimentation thrive only when ideas and culture can be freely exchanged and circulated. Tickets to hear him speak were £10.
