School of Life Sciences of Manipal University, Manipal, is the hub of research, education and diagnostic activities. Established in the year 2004, prides itself of academic achievements on par with high national and international standards. With the highly qualified faculties in diverse fields of life sciences, the School offers bachelors program in biotechnology, masters program in a) medical biotechnology, b) molecular biology and human genetics and c) bioinformatics. School is one of the recognized centers biotechnology finishing school program under government of India. Robust PhD programs encompassing areas of biotechnology, molecular biology, human genetics, plant sciences, biophysics, microbiology, toxicogenemics and cell biology primary focuses on human diseases such as cancer, infection, inflammation, radiation biology, translational of laser and photoaccoustic technology, human variation and traditional medicine research. Research and translational programs at the School have been funded for national and international programs by government agencies such as ICMR, DBT, CSIR, DST and many others. School is also Center of excellence in Pharmacogenomics recognized by TIFAC-CORE. With consistent publications and patent activities, the envisions to contribute significantly alleviation of human diseases and provide societal benefits.
