Hypermedia links will be added automatically to scientific journals available over the World-Wide Web, in a new project supported by the funding bodies' Electronic Libraries programme. Links need not be explicitly embedded in journal papers by the author, and can be added to archival journals which are available in electronic form. The Open Journal project will use the Microcosm hypermedia system developed at the University of Southampton.
