NEW YORK, NEW YORK

The Hunterian Art Gallery is presenting the only Scottish showing of an exhibition of New York city prints (1880s-1990) from the collection of Reba and Dave Williams. The exhibition, which runs until April 13, will include works by Joseph Pennell, Childe Hassam, John Marin, Joan Sloan, Charles Sheeler and Craig McPherson. EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS

The Welsh College of Music and Drama will be performing Paul Zindel's play, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds in the Caird Theatre, WCMD, Castle Grounds, Cathays Park, Cardiff. The play will run until March 25 (excluding Sunday and Monday) at 7.30pm. Information: 01222 372175.

NIACE NATIONAL CONFERENCE

The National Institution of Adult and Continuing Education annual study conference offers a regular opportunity for practitioners and policy-makers to examine current trends affecting adult learning. This year's event "Which Way the Learning Society?" focuses on the present challenge about routes and, if we are already under way, are we on the right track? POLITICAL APPROPRIATIONS

The department of classics and archaeology at the University of Bristol is holding a seminar on "Political appropriations of Rome in the 20th Century" on March 24 (10am-5.30pm). RESEARCH STUDENT NETWORK

A research students' network conference will take place at the University of Birmingham on April 29 (10am-4.30pm) to provide an opportunity for research students in education to talk about their work, meet others in related fields and explore particular issues. Topics will include: specialisation v. breadth in educational research; interpersonal skills for research; personal progress management; the contribution of practitioner research to career development. PEOPLE IN WORK

The local economy policy unit at South Bank University has organised a seminar on "Training for People in Work" on April 11.
