American Society for Nutritional Sciences

The Lederle Award in Human Nutrition has been conferred on John Scott, professor in the department of biochemistry at Trinity College Dublin. Professor Scott, the first non-American to receive the award, was recognised for his research into how the human body uses vitamin B12 and folate and the relationship between vitamin B12 and folate in the incidence of children born with neural tube defects.

European Humanities Research Centre, University of Oxford

Colin Smith was posthumously awarded the 1997 Weidenfeld Prize for Translation from a European Language, which is administered by the centre, for The King Amaz'd by Gonzalo Torrente Ballister.
