SMITH AND NEPHEW FOUNDATION Richard Kitney, professor of biomedical systems engineering at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, has been appointed a trustee of the foundation.

BOURNEMOUTH UNIVERSITY Juliet Sheppard, professor of management education and head of business strategy and development at Kingston University, has been appointed head of the university's business school.

BATH COLLEGE OF HIGHER EDUCATION Alun Thomas, former head of institutions and programmes division at Higher Education Funding Council for England, has been appointed assistant director at the college.

ABERYSTYWTH ARTS CENTRE Helen Kozich will be the University of Wales, Aberystwyth's artist in residence at the centre.
