UNIVERSITY OF TEESSIDE David Grant, lord-lieutenant of Durham, former managing director and chairman of Darchem Limited and former chairman of the council, has been appointed as the first visitor to the university.

WELLCOME TRUST S. D. Logan, professor in the biomedical sciences section of the University of Aberdeen, has been appointed to the trust's neurosciences panel.
