UNIVERSITY OF NORTHUMBRIA. Vince Ramprogus, former director of nursing research at Keele University, has been appointed assistant dean (nursing and midwifery) in the faculty of health, social work and education.

THE LONDON COLLEGE OF MUSIC

The London College of Music at Thames Valley University has appointed Howard Goodall, musician and composer, as president of the college; and Alastair Creamer, former sponsorship manager at Sainsbury's, as director.

ROEHAMPTON INSTITUTE

Elizabeth Nelson (pictured below) has accepted the institute's invitation to become chair of council. Dr Nelson is the former chairman of Taylor Nelson/AHB, founder director of RISC (international research institute on social change) and director of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers.

UNIVERSITY OF WOLVERHAMPTON

Jon Baldwin, former consultant to the Higher Education Quality Council, has been appointed registrar.

UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW

Rick Trainor (founding director of the projects design and implementation of software in history and computers in teaching initiative centre for history, archaeology and art history) has been appointed vice principal.
