BRITISH SCHOOL AT ROME The 1994/95 Rome Scholars in Ancient, Medieval and Later Italian Studies are: Edward Bispham, Jesus College Oxford and Amanda Collins, St Hugh's College, Oxford.

DE MONTFORT UNIVERSITY Peter Craig, head of the department of chemistry, has been appointed director of the graduate school in science.

UNIVERSITY OF KEELE Readers: Tim Hope, formerly senior research fellow at the University of Manchester; Sandra Walklate, previously senior lecturer at Salford University.

Allan Foster (librarian and information services manager at Manchester Business School) has been appointed director of information services; Ian Hookway (human resources adviser at North Staffordshire Health Authority) appointed personnel manager; Sarah Longwell (careers adviser at Crewe and Alsager Faculty, Manchester Metropolitan University) has been appointed careers adviser in academic affairs.

UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS Brian Jewell, director of medical and dental development (1990-94) has succeeded Monty Losowsky as dean of the school of medicine.

TRINITY COLLEGE LONDON Alan Moller, who set up the department of evaluation in Languacom, Paris, has been appointed chief examiner (language).

GWENT COLLEGE OF HIGHER EDUCATION Peter Sayer (dean of faculty of arts and education at Gloucester College of Higher Education) has been appointed dean of Newport School of Art and Design; Christine Atha (lecturer at Goldsmiths) will be associate dean of Newport School of Art and Design.
