University of London

On September 1, the following took up office: Graham Zellick, principal of Queen Mary and Westfield College, vice chancellor; Arthur Lucas, principal of King's College London, deputy vice chancellor; Lance Lanyon, principal of the Royal Veterinary College, pro vice chancellor.

Institute of Legal Executives

ILEX has elected Patricia Dilley as president. She is employed by Freeth Cartwright Hunt Dickins, Nottingham and is chairman of the institute's education standing committee, a part-time lecturer at Arnold and Carlton College of Further Education, and a member of the Lord Chancellor's Standing Conference on Legal Education and Conduct.

RSA

The Royal Society for the encouragement of arts, manufactures and c ommerce has appointed Bill Lucas, member of advisory boards for the WWF (UK) and the Evergreen Foundation of Canada, and chairman of the Pegasus Youth Theatre, as chief executive of the campaign for learning (an RSA initiative).

Selly Oak Colleges

Michael Taylor, director of Christian Aid, former principal of the Northern Baptist College in Manchester and lecturer in the faculty of theology at Manchester University, has been appointed president, succeeding Martin Conway on his retirement.
